Mauricio Pochettino's dream Chelsea XI vs West Ham with Moises Caicedo transfer sealed
football.london takes a look at what Chelsea's line-up could look like at the weekend against West Ham should the club complete the signing of Moises Caicedo by then
Chelsea are now extremely close to completing the signing of Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion.
As reported by primeblog late on Sunday evening, Chelsea have agreed a £115million deal with Brighton to sign Caicedo after months of negotiations over the midfielder. The Ecuador international will finalise his move to Stamford Bridge ahead of sealing a British record transfer.
Chelsea are set to officially confirm the move very soon after beating competition from Liverpool for Caicedo. As long as everything goes to plan, there is a serious chance the 21-year-old will be in the squad for the weekend when the Blues make the short trip to the London Stadium to face West Ham United.
It will be a welcome boost for Mauricio Pochettino who, at the moment, is rather short when it comes to options in the centre of midfield. Conor Gallagher was excellent in Chelsea's draw with Liverpool on Sunday, with the England international playing at the base of midfield.
It wasn't a natural position for Gallagher, however, and that does not look as if it will be a long-term solution. Caicedo coming in means Chelsea may revert back to the 4-2-3-1 system Pochettino used throughout the club's pre-season tour of the United States
With that being said, primeblog takes a look at how Chelsea could line up this weekend when they travel to the Hammers on Sunday. Note: this is if Caicedo does sign in time for the Blues' second Premier League match of the season.
